Summary: Phase 3. Policy Adoption & Early Implementation

Mauritania has maintained long-standing BEP supplement programming, especially in refugee camps and food-insecure agro-pastoral zones. The Ministry of Agriculture is responsible for delivering Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programmes (TSFP). In these settings, BEP supplement is in the form of CSB+ and given based on food security data, child wasting data, and Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) geographical targeting data. For individual targeting, a MUAC cut-off of 21 cm is used for enrollment and a cut-off of 23 cm is used for discharge. The supplements are provided during pregnancy and up to 6 months postpartum.
For the prevention of malnutrition, BEP supplements, in the form of CSB+ but in a smaller dosage are used in Malian refugee camps and in agro-pastoral crisis marked by drought.
